Mawwada Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026.
Mawwada is an AI-supported communication assistant for Muslim couples. This policy explains what the Mawwada app and keyboard ("Mawwada") collect, why, who processes it, how long it is kept and how to have it deleted. The app is published by WZPLUS LABS LTD (company number 17498754, registered in England and Wales), 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom. Contact: wzplus.labs@gmail.com.
Mawwada is built so that a situation you share is used only to produce the result you asked for.
What Mawwada never does
Mawwada never reads other apps or background conversations. The keyboard only sees the text field you are actively writing in, plus anything you explicitly paste, share or screenshot to it. Mawwada never sends your conversation content to analytics, and never trains AI models on it.
What is collected
- An anonymous identifier for your installation, for subscription and fair-use tracking. No email, name or sign-in account.
- The text you submit for a given action, including text read from a screenshot (the image itself stays on your phone).
- Voice recordings, when you use Voice in the app (see below).
- Metadata about which action was used and when. This is never the content of what you wrote.
- An anonymous cost and usage record for each request: the action, the AI model used, token counts, duration and whether it succeeded. It contains no message text, audio or replies.
What is stored on this device
Your app preferences (like light/dark mode), your display name, your local installation credentials, the counts behind Insights, and, if you use the Mawwada keyboard, its personal dictionary of words you type often (cleared from Keyboard settings). None of it is conversation content, and "Delete my data" in Settings clears it.
Voice
When you use Voice in the app, your speech is recorded on your phone and the audio is sent securely to Mawwada's servers, which pass it once to OpenAI to turn it into text.
- Mawwada's own handling: Mawwada does not store the audio. It is held only in memory on Mawwada's server while it is transcribed, and is not written to disk or a database.
- The transcription provider's handling: OpenAI receives the audio to produce the text. OpenAI does not use it to train its models. OpenAI's published API data controls (checked 20 October 2026) list no abuse-monitoring retention and no stored application state for its transcription service. That is OpenAI's own policy: Mawwada does not control it, cannot delete audio held by OpenAI, and cannot guarantee it will not change, so Mawwada does not promise that OpenAI keeps no copy.
- The recording on your phone is deleted once the text arrives, or when you cancel. If transcription fails, it stays on your phone until you retry or cancel.
- You see and can edit the text before anything is analysed.
The Mawwada keyboard's microphone key works differently: it uses your phone's own speech recognition and sends no audio to Mawwada.
Who processes your content
Results are written by OpenAI from the text you submit. If OpenAI is unavailable, the same request is sent to Anthropic, our backup provider, so you still get a result; under its commercial terms Anthropic does not train on this content and may keep it for a limited period (up to 30 days) to detect abuse. OpenAI does not use this content to train its models. Like any API provider, it may keep requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse. Your installation identifier is never sent to either provider. If you use My Writing Style with Write like me on, your writing preferences (a short set of fixed choices, never your messages) are sent with the request. Voice transcription and My Writing Style analysis use OpenAI only and have no backup. Payments and subscriptions are handled by Google Play; Mawwada receives subscription status, not payment details.
Conversation content is not kept
A situation is processed to produce a result and is not saved afterwards, on your phone or on Mawwada's servers, unless a future opt-in history feature exists and you have turned it on. Screenshots are discarded on your phone immediately once their text has been read. The one exception is the generated result itself. It is held on the server for at most 24 hours, tied to your installation, so that a request retried after a dropped connection returns the same result without being charged twice. Then it is deleted.
My Writing Style
If you choose to set it up, you can paste a few messages you wrote yourself so Mawwada can write more like you.
- The examples are used once, to describe how you write, and then discarded. They are not stored on Mawwada's servers or on your phone, and they are not used for analytics.
- They are analysed by OpenAI only, never by the backup provider, for that one analysis. OpenAI does not use them to train its models; like any API provider, it may keep them for up to 30 days to detect abuse.
- What Mawwada keeps is a set of writing preferences: for example how you use punctuation, pauses and capitals, casual or formal, short or detailed, how openly you express feelings, and pet names or expressions like "in sha Allah" that you use (from a fixed list). It contains no names, places or details from your messages.
- Mawwada also keeps a few short example messages it writes in your style, about invented everyday situations (thanking someone, asking to talk later, an apology). Those examples are not copies of your messages: they are written without seeing them and checked to contain no names, places, numbers or details from them.
- Both are kept against your anonymous installation until you reset them (which deletes them) or relearn (which replaces them). You can switch "Write like me" off, relearn it, or reset it to delete the preferences and examples.
- With "Write like me" on, the preferences and example messages (never your own messages) are sent with each request to our AI provider. They shape only the words Mawwada suggests you send. They are not used for explanations or Islamic guidance.
Notifications
- A "response ready" notification only ever says that a response is ready, never what you wrote or what Mawwada suggested.
- Communication reminders are off unless you turn them on. They are general, verified verses, hadith or adab reminders, never about your conversations, and they are scheduled on your phone.
Other people in your conversations
A shared message may contain a spouse's words, not just your own. Mawwada treats that the same as any other content: processed transiently, never retained, and never used to build a profile of anyone other than you.
Subscriptions and purchase verification
Mawwada Premium is sold through Google Play. Google Play handles your payment and tells Mawwada only what is needed to give you access: a purchase token (a random code issued by Google), the plan, its state (active, cancelled, expired, on hold) and its renewal date. We never see your card or payment details.
- Mawwada's servers send the purchase token to Google to confirm it is genuine, and receive notifications from Google when a subscription renews, is cancelled, expires or is refunded, so your access matches your subscription.
- The token is stored encrypted and linked to your anonymous installation, so you can restore Premium after reinstalling or changing phone ("Restore purchases"). It is kept while your installation exists and deleted if you delete your data.
- Google keeps its own payment and tax records under its terms. Mawwada cannot delete those, and deleting your Mawwada data does not cancel a subscription: cancel in Google Play → Subscriptions.
Reporting AI responses
Mawwada's replies are written by AI and can be wrong or unsuitable. "Report this response" sends us a category, the screen it came from, an optional note you type and the app version. The response itself is sent only if you tick "Include this response"; your own conversation is never part of a report. Reports are reviewed to improve safety filtering and are kept until you delete your data. "Report a mistake" on a cited source sends the source's identifier, a category and your optional note.
Suggestions and fair-use records
Feature suggestions you write are stored with your anonymous identifier until you delete your data. Mawwada also keeps counts of how many conversations, keyboard rewrites, seconds of voice, Writing Style analyses and Writing Style previews you have used in the current month (never their content) to apply the free allowance and fair use, and likewise the seconds of Voice and the number of Writing Style analyses and previews. For each request to an AI provider Mawwada also keeps a cost record: which feature and model were used, token counts, audio seconds, duration, whether it succeeded and the estimated cost. It holds no message text, audio, screenshot text or generated reply, and it carries only a keyed reference to your anonymous installation, not the identifier itself. These records are used to protect the service from abuse and to monitor running costs, and are deleted when you delete your data.
Who we share data with
These providers process data on Mawwada's behalf, only for the purposes above:
- OpenAI - writes results from the text you submit, and transcribes Voice audio.
- Anthropic - backup writer if OpenAI is unavailable.
- Google - Google Play payments and subscription verification.
- Railway - hosts Mawwada's servers.
We do not sell personal data, show advertising or use advertising identifiers. Data may be processed in countries where these providers operate, including the United States.
Retention, in one place
- Your situation text, screenshots and audio: not kept by Mawwada (see above; the AI providers' own retention is described under "Who processes your content" and "Voice"); the generated result is cached at most 24 hours for safe retries.
- Writing Style preferences and example messages: until you reset them or delete your data.
- Anonymous installation record, usage counters, cost and usage records, subscription records, suggestions and reports: until you delete your data.
- Operational logs contain no conversation text; installation identifiers in logs are shortened hashes.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Delete my data. This erases the writing-style profile, usage counters, anonymous cost and usage records, subscription records, suggestions and reports linked to your installation, and disables its credentials. It cannot be undone, and you start fresh on the Free plan. Without the app: email wzplus.labs@gmail.com from your own address and describe your request; because Mawwada holds no name or email for you, we may ask you to open the app and use the in-app option, or to give your installation ID from Settings. See also the deletion page on this site.
Children
Mawwada is for adults and is not directed at children under 18.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, the updated date above changes and the in-app copy is updated with the release. Questions or requests: wzplus.labs@gmail.com.
